I scream, UScream...

I would like to introduce you to my freshman 15. Its name is the UConn Dairy Bar.

Though I've since lost those pesky pounds and I graduated three years ago, the Dairy Bar is still one of my favorite places on campus (aside from the library). If I'm home for a weekend and within 20 miles of UConn, I try to make a stop. My dear friend Emily is lucky; she's getting her phD in English at UConn, which means she can get her hands on any of the Dairy Bar's 24+ flavors any day of the week. She obviously knows them well, as she opted for a mint chocolate chip sundae with hot fudge & whipped cream. I went for more summery flavors and got banana chocolate chip and coconut. BCC & I go way back, but it was my first time meeting coconut and I wasn't wowed. It was a little lacking in the flavor department, but still pretty delicious.

(Prior to our ice cream binge, we were at a tea party-themed bridal shower--hence the hat. Em said she'd pay for my ice cream if I wore it inside. Who am I to turn down free ice cream?)

The Dairy Bar makes their own ice cream and if you're lucky enough, you might be able to watch them making it! Either way, stop in to enjoy their enormous ice cream cookie sandwiches, cups, cones, sundaes and shakes. (Try the Husky Tracks - one of my all-time favorites!). They also sell cage-free eggs and fresh milk from UConn cows (if you're lucky, you can catch them feeding in the field outside!)
